Mowing your lawn more often is not the same as fertilizing it. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about lawn fertilization that exist in this world. Fertilization is about providing your soil and lawn, with the nutrients it needs to make your lawn healthier, greener, and more beautiful. And that’s what moowy lawn feed helps you do. However, if you want to have a lawn, but are wondering how to sow grass seed? Relax: sowing grass is actually very simple. In just four steps, you’ll be able to do it right.

1. Prepare the soil

To prepare the soil, it’s important to know what the soil is like, so you can choose the right tillage techniques. There are two methods of tilling the soil: motorized tilling, which is much less tiring, and manual tilling, which is very tiring and time-consuming. When tilling the soil, it is advisable to loosen the soil to a depth of about 15 to 20 cm. Then, using a rake, remove roots, stones and other plant debris from the soil. The looser and finer the soil, the easier it is for the grass to grow.

2. Refining the soil

After tilling, it is often necessary to work the soil to refine it. It is necessary to crumble the clods with a manual tool, the shovel or the rake, with a spade with electric or thermal engine, etc. During this operation, it is necessary to take advantage of it to remove the stones which could damage the mower during the mowing of the lawn.

3. Sow the seeds

Using a rake, level the surface and remove any dry grass or stones. It is recommended to put 30 g of grass seed per square meter. Divide the 30 g of seeds in 2, then sow one half in one direction, then the second half in the direction oppose to the first. Sowing in this manner ensures a better distribution of the seeds. However, perfectionists like to sow using the traditional grid pattern, but if you have a lawn spreader, you can use that too.

4. Pack and water

To press the seeds against the soil, a lawn roller is ideal. Since the soil needs to stay moist, water once and regularly if the weather stays dry. Allow at least 15 days to pass before walking on the lawn, and wait at least 2 months before mowing for the first time.
